The Substance Use Disorder Treatment Counselor provides drug and alcohol assessment, psychosocial, and pharmacological treatment to adults who are living with Substance Use Disorder (SUD). They will be responsible for performing counseling duties. They will be supervised by a senior counselor, a Clinical Team Lead, and/or the Clinic Manager. The position will be assigned to the Medication Mobile Unit (MMU) which will operate and provide substance use disorder services in the greater Metro Denver area. The position may also work from time to time as a SUD Treatment Counselor at the ARTS Parkside Clinic in Denver or at other ARTS clinic locations. The Substance Use Disorder Treatment Counselor will report to the Clinic Manager and may perform other duties as assigned.
This position will primarily work with patients who are participating in Medication Assisted Treatment (MAT), potentially referred from probation departments and with opioid dependent patients and/or other referral sources (i.e., department of social services).
Substance Use Disorder Treatment Counselor Key Responsibilities:
- Providing assessments of clients for admission to treatment.
- Performing SUD evaluations.
- Completing patient intakes (new, returning, internal transfer, external transfer, etc.).
- Performing group, individual and family counseling.
- Using evidence-based practices for treating offenders and criminal-justice involved populations.
- Maintaining accurate and timely documentation in patient charts.
- Developing and carrying out individualized treatment plans and case management duties as needed to meet the needs of external sources as well as linking client’s treatment progress to referral sources.
- Complete monthly billing report and statistics.
- Assessing and collecting fees from clients.
- Staffing on-call shift rotations.
- Coverage of clinic front desk as needed, with occasional partial Saturday shift requirement.
- Work closely with problem solving courts, the Veterans Administration, Department of Social Services/Human Services, and/or other referral sources.
- Performing other work as assigned or required.
