Treatment Philosophy

Substance use disorders are biopsychosocial behavioral disorders that can be severe and in some cases chronic. The broad aim for ARTS is to reduce the morbidity and mortality associated with these disorders.

The net result of successful treatment has societal benefits as well:

  • reduced criminality and related social costs
  • reduced risk of HIV infection and other costly medical problems
  • interruption of the intergenerational pattern of substance use disorders
